How the Festival Works
Students are asked to choose a category in which to submit a film. The entries are then
sent out to a team of judges, usually local professional
filmmakers, television production personnel and media
experts. The judges score the films in a particular entry
category and the three highest rated films in each category
are presented on the night of the festival.
At the conclusion of the screenings, the highest scoring
piece in each category is announced and framed Certificates
of Award are presented to the filmmakers as well as a cash
prize. The representative schools are also presented with
framed Certificates.
Although there is not a time limit imposed on the length
of submissions, for the smooth running of the festival we
may only be able to show about six minutes of each entry.
Thus, it behooves filmmakers to keep their entries to a
length around six minutes if possible.
